Privy Councillor and former Prime Minister Thanin Kraivixien takes an eye test before me. According to the eye specialist, Dr. Prin, I have some developing cateracts and extreme far-sightedness. He discusses the possibility that I consider IOL , intra-ocular lens surgery, which takes 7 minutes only for each eye. He gives me 6 months to think about it before re-examination. New IOLs are being developed all the time to make the surgery less complicated for surgeons and the lenses more helpful to patients. One example is a new IOL that lets patients see at all distances, not just one. Another new IOL blocks both ultraviolet and blue light rays, which research indicates may damage the retina.
