After a hard days work at the Sublanka Wildlife Sanctuary and having been in China for over a week the gang enjoys dinner at Chokechai Steakhouse. Pichai Chantvirachart (Chairman of Field Operations),Bundit Saowan (Vice-Chairman of Field Operations) and Boonsak Phansuwan enjoy T-bone and Prime Rib steaks.


After a little searching we find the wild boar footprints near the watering pond we dug at the Sublanka Wildlife Sanctuary. Two of the wild boars have already given birth to 11 babies.

Trip to Jiuzhaigou - Oct. 21 to Oct 28, 2005


Khun Pornsri asks Khun Pusadee if she likes the taste of the Jamaree (Yak) sun-dried testicles, while Khun Chantra (with yuan in hand) orders a kilo.


Each inscription stone is signed with a seal mark. So far modern archaeologists have not been able to decipher the name of the stone maker on the seal.


At every panoramic spot at Jiuzhaigou there are stone inscriptions extolling the wonders of the location.


Khun Somchai Achavanuntakul and Sivaporn invoke the spirits of the Sam Khok Temple to bless the tour group with a safe journey.

At the Jiuzhaigou Sheraton (pronounced: shee-lai-tun) Hotel, some members of our group endulge in the ancient art of building and knocking down a model of the Great Wall of China.


Dr. Sumalee polishes off a bowl of noodles and fried rice while Pornsri smiles because she doesn't know that the bottle of Evian water costs more than the noodle.


This ancient rubbish container, probably dating from the Ming Dynasty, was observed at the "Sarn Chao Sam Khok" in Chengdu. Notice the fine relief figurine.

A group of Tibetans we ran into in Jiuzhaigou. This group uphold the belief that the sky may one day fall on their heads and therefore always look skyward.


The two Chinese blanket makers are gleefully counting how much profit they made from this tour group from Thailand. This is no-discount place and everyone spends at least 2000 yuan (US$200).
