"Jae Dham" at Rangsit Klong 10

Dr. Sumet and Khunying Jintana Tantivejkul host a special lunch at "Jae Dham" Restaurant on Rangsit Klong 10 for my speedy recovery from the heart bypass operation with the whole gang.

Jae Dham with Dr. Sumet, Bundit, Pliu and me. I credit Khun Pliu with teaching Jae Dam how to cook the river prawns the proper way. See below.

Jae Dham -Sept. 1980

Khun Pliu teaches Jae Dham how to properly cut the giant river prawns before grilling, taken in September 1980. Jae Dham has now moved across the road to a shophouse on Klong 10 , Rangsit-Nakorn Niyok Road and does a triving business today from what she has learned from these two master chefs. In those days we went shooting with Sirin Nimmanhaeminda( with white hat) around the Minburi, Nongchok and Klong Rangsit areas and would stop at Jae Dam for lunch or dinner.

Khun Pliu and Jae Dham -reunited.

The nurses from the hospital nursery deliver Panna Cotta to Patrapa to take home.

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Boonyuey, my driver-chauffeur when I was President of TISCO, comes hoping to visit Patrapa, but she is feeding the baby in the nursery. Boonyuey drove the Volvo 244, the Mercedes Benz 260 S (one of the first S- Class in Thailand), the BMW 735 iL, and finally the Mazda 121, which was the city car I introduced as the executive car to save on consumption and reduce global warming until I early retired at the end of 1993. Boonyuey drove Patrapa every morning to Mater Dei School as she sat on my lap in the BMW. He retired from TISCO when he reached 55 and now he is 70. Good to see him in good health since I haven't seen him in many many years.

Baby Panna Cotta is still under UV treatment. Loses over 10% body weight so is given additional formula milk, while mother's milk is slow to come.

Panna Cotta has G6PD deficiency so she gets the full VU TREATMENT with eye shades on. Her homecoming will have to be delayed until Friday or Saturday.

Pavalyn and Minnie await baby Panna Cotta 's home coming.

Ten minutes old.

Patralada

Suriyon and Patrapa 's daughter is born today at 9:52 AM the eighteenth of July 2009 in Delivery Room #5 weighing 2.670 kilogram with total length 50 cm and resting in room 1404 Samitivej Hospital.

Patralada

Patrapa gives birth to Patralada by natural method. Weight of baby is in the 2.5 to 3 kilogram range for natural child birth. No medicines, stimulants, pain killers, etc. are used; so baby is alert at birth. Patrapa endures normal pains of child birth without stress.

Grandparents visit the newborn in the delivery room.

Today Raisin, our lovely 8 1/2 year old Golden Retriever, suddenly passed away with a heart attack after getting excited and barking after a cat. She was taken to the doctor but could not be resuscitated. Pansiri was devastated and crying. In the above photo from Jan. 2002: Rhum (top) and Raisin (bottom).

6th Week After Heart Bypass Operation

Scar on chest from Bypass operation. Chest pains subsides with additional doze of Arcoxia pills on alternating days. From feelings of wooden and steel cloths hangers in chest, to welded steel cage, it now feels like I have a giant cast iron spider glued to my chest. The spear which kept jabbing my left back is now like a chopstick jab. When I exercise my arms up and down and backwards and forward there is a "krup krup" sound from my rib cage (bones). Sudden flashes of pain occur from time to time as if from the heart. Doctor says I am healing well and lengthens the period of visit from two weeks to three. However, I note with the doctor that the heart is still inflamed.

Sorrento's July Special Dish

Today Terachai sends over " Spaghetti a Limone e Acciugge" or spaghetti with lemon and anchovies, with is the new special dish for the month of July at Sorrento Restaurant. It is a good dish because of the lemon sauce my taste buds can fully taste it.

Sorrento Italian Restaurant

Today Terachai, owner of Sorrento Restaurant, has his chef make a large pot of "Boeuf Bourguignon" using a whole bottle of burgundy wine and sends it to my house so that I can be cheered up. The beef stew is very good but I wish I could fully taste it. My taste buds are now at 80%.
