Electricity Producing Micro Turbine from Laos

Boonsak shows the micro turbine which just arrived by train from Laos. We purchased this made in China micro turbine for Baht 2,000 so that we can study this micro electricity producing system. The micro turbine is widely used in northern Laos where there is no national electricity grid and plenty of flowing water. Many Laotian households rely on this system for power. The micro turbine in the photo produces 220 volts and enough power for some lights, TV and cellphone recharging, which is all the power requirement a rural Laotian household. It is the smallest unit. Larger sizes are available for large households and small villages.
