Tham Ngan vs Tham Rai

SASIN Annual Advisory Council Meeting: Sivaporn teaches the subtleness of the Thai language as in the Thai words meaning "to work" i.e. "Tham Rai" which is applied to farmers who work the field, vs. "Tham Ngan" which is for office workers. The word "Rai" when used as a measure of land is four times the size of a "Ngan". A "Ngan" is 100 square wah and a "Rai" is 400 square wah. Thus an office worker does only 1/4 the work of a farmer. Listening with attention from left to right: M.R. Sarisdiguna Kitiyakara, Prof. Toemsakdi Krishnamra, Prof. Dr.Khunying Suchada Kiranandana, President of Chulalongkorn University, Pong Sarasin, Sivaporn, and Dr. Chockchai Aksaranan.
